A Birthday Tale...Hint, Hint

Here in Studio JHP we love searching out excellence in the handmade, upcycled, artisanal world of fiber arts. From hand-painted silk ribbon hailing from Oxford, England, to unique digital art that comes from a small town in Wisconsin, my goal as a teacher is to open my student's eyes to the possibilities of it all! Here is a sampling of what has come into the studio in the past few weeks.

St. John's Baptismal Banner

Many of you may not know that JHP has a long history of designing church textiles; banners, altar paraments and things of that nature! This banner is a recent commission from a church in Lombard for a new baptismal banner. Many thanks to Vicki Welsh from Etsy for the beautiful custom dyed and painted fabrix that turned out exactly as I needed!

A Birthday Tale...Hint, Hint

Once upon a summer June day there was a quilter named Pamela.

It was her birthday! She had a VERY good day!

(HINT 1)

Her daughter gave her hugs and kisses and told her that

she was a VERY beautiful Momma!

(HINT 2)

Her Husband surprised her with ... OH! Another DECENT CAMERA?? "Wait, wife... this one takes HD video...with stereo sound!! Just think of the movies of the granddaughters that you will be able to make!" Oh, how happy Pamela was! ... and the Husband snuck away with the OTHER decent camera to his man cave to happily snap away another day!

It was a perfect day for mowing the lawn but that wasn't HER job, silly! It's her BIRTHDAY! Mr. Ben, the husband did that! She went out to check the mail and had a good time chatting with the friendly neighbors passing by. She did, however, bring Mr. Ben a cold drink!

(HINT 4)

A package came in the mail... what could it be? OOOH... fun new fabrics for an
upcoming class in Studio JHP! As she she sat at the cutting table and sorted all of the new things couldn't help but think of how much she loved this part of her life. Teaching, quilting. It's a good life.

As Pamela's birthday draws to a close she wants you all to know that she is looking very FORWARD to what the next year has in store and she's glad that you were here for the day!

P.S. OH yes... she also found out that she is getting not 1, but TWO new purses for her birthday.
